The 5th Congress Of “Urban Transformation In Every Aspects” Took Place

This year’s congress focused on urban transformation on many aspects. The congress took place in Swiss Hotel on 22.02.2018 with 5 different panels aiming to understand urban transformation better.
• “Future of urban transformation in regards to sectoral NGOs”
• “Importance of urban strategy and integration for urban transformation in regards to local authorities”
• “Future of urban transformation in regards to Real Estate Sector”
• “Ingredients of the urban transformation process and new approaches”
• “Social and Environmental Sustainability aspect of urban transformation”
Our CEO Cem Yılmaz made a presentation about our Master Plan works and experiences in the panel of “Ingredients of the Urban Transformation Process and New Approaches”.
Mr. Yılmaz emphasized the importance of working with correct data in Master Plans and production of broad analyzes within this scope.
He informed the audience about the first urban transformation master plan in Turkey which was realized with a working group of 3.500 people and in cooperation with Foster+Partners as the design consultant, Buro Happold as the infrastructure consultant, MIC as the Transportation consultant, Atelier Dreiseitl as the Landscape consultant.
Additionally, he gave information about the Elazig Urban Transformation Strategy Document that we prepared in order to increase the livability, utilize the resources in an efficient and systematic way in Elazig while taking into account the unhealthy building and depreciated building stock, unplanned urbanization.
He finished the presentation by talking about our experiences gained from Cizre Master Plan and Negotiation works which is still going on and conducted in coordination with Ministry of Environment and Urbanism, TOKI, Cizre Municipality, Cizre Governorate as this cooperation could be an example to solve the ongoing problem of lacking dialogue between institutions during urban transformation processes.
